In July 2010 the Steirische Sängerbund invites to a very special vocal event for the 12th time.
“vokal.total” will be the motto for a-cappella groups and various vocal ensembles from all over the world that meet in Graz, Austria.

10th International A Cappella Competition

26 - 29 July 2010

What’s the A Cappella Competition all about?

singers02.jpgThe International A Cappella Competition for Jazz and Pop ensembles, part of vokal.total.2010, will take place for the 10th time. Within a short period of time this competition has developed into one of the most important of its kind in Europe, and attracts vocal groups from all over the world to Graz. Our cooperation with the Taiwan Choral Center means that every year the winners of the categories are invited to visit (and perform in) Taiwan.

The  Ward Swingle Award

tonalrausch.jpg The total prize money for the competition is 6,000 Euros. The first prize in each category is dedicated to the great arranger and composer of a cappella music, Mr. Ward Swingle, the founder of the Swingle Singers. The Ward Swingle Award will be presented to the best ensembles on Thursday 29 July, 2010.

The list of jury members reads like the “who’s who” of vocal arts: Anders Jalkéus, bass singer of the famous Real Group, Matthias Becker, an expert in vocal music from Germany and others.

Programme

4kanter1.jpgThe contest itself is open to the public and takes place from 26 to 28 July in the Dom im Berg. On 29 July the winners will present themselves at the winners concert.

The A Cappella Competition will be broadcast live on the net. Please visit this website during the festival time.
